The Adjustment Bureau is a new movie set to come out on March 4, 2011. The movie is based on the short story “The Adjustment Team” by Philip K. Dick. This is not the first time one of Philip Dick’s stories has been adapted for the big screen. Blade Runner, Total Recall and most recently Minority Report are all Hollywood movies that are based upon his short stories.
As was the basis with the previous movies, The Adjustment Bureau is science fiction driven. Starring Matt Damon as David Norris and Emily Blunt as Elise Sellas. The premise of the movie is that Matt Damon’s character gets a glimpse of his future as Fate has scripted for him but he has met the woman of his dreams, played by Emily Blunt. In his pre-determined Fate, Damon’s character is on the verge of winning a seat in the U.S. Senate while Blunt’s character is a contemporary ballet dancer. He soon realizes that he is falling for her and that’s when he is confronted by the agents of Fate – men from the Adjustment Bureau. The agents explain to David Norris that everyone has a pre-determined Fate and that his does not include Elise Sellas. It is further explained that if he continues he puts both of their lives in danger. Facing overwhelming odds, David Norris must choose to let his true love go and accept his Fate or fight against The Adjustment Bureau and their considerable power to be with the woman of his dreams.
