The Last Airbender
The film encompasses earth in the time when it has only nations – The Air Nomads, The Water Tribes, The Fire Nation and The Earth Kingdom. Avatars are the spiritual figures which hold the Earth in peace. The Air Nomads are expert Airbenders. The Water Tribes are expert Waterbenders. The Fire Nation people are expert Firebenders. The Earth Kingdom people are expert Earthbenders. An Avatar is missing for the last hundred years and Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation has been assigned by his father Fire Lord Ozai to search the lost Avatar.
Katara, an expert waterbender, along with her brother Sokka have been following the trail of an ice sphere in which they find a boy Aang and his companion Appa, a flying bison. Zuko, in his search reaches the Southern Water Tribe to which Sokka and Katara belong. His soldiers find the unique Airbender marks on Aang’s body and Zuko takes him in custody, sure that this is the long lost Avatar he has been searching for. Aang surrenders but on the condition that the tribals shall not be harmed.
On reaching the ship, Aang flies back to his friends on his gladiator. Along with his friends he flies to the Southern Air Temple and finds that Monk Gyatso, his guardian and whole of his tribe has been killed by the Fire Nation forces. Aang embarks on the mission of liberating the Earth Kingdom Tribes from the Fire Nation forces. Katara perfects her waterbending techniques. Aang is captured from the Northern Air Temple by Zhou, commander of the Fire Nation forces. But ‘Blue Spirit’, a masked savior rescues Aang.
Aang’s group reaches the Northern Water Tribe and its Princes Yue welcomes them. The tribe is attacked by the forces of the Fire Nation led by Zhao. Zhao slays Tui, the moon spirit from whom the Water Tribe gets its waterbending powers. Yue sacrifices her life to bring Tui back to life. Waterbenders regain their powers and Zhao is killed by them. Aang transforms into Avatar and destroys the Fire Nation forces, liberating the Earth from their cruelties. Fire Nation chief Ozai deputes his daughter Azula to capture her brother and uncle and punish them for their treachery.
M. Night Shyamalan, producer, director whose films have often been in the top 10 movies list, has written, directed and produced this science fiction movie which is actually more towards spiritual pursuits. Humans connect to something either through mind or through heart. This movie is for a heart connection. The fire of desires is engulfing our senses and we need the water of satiation to drowse this fire. A must see to understand what we want this world to be for our children. Time is running out so act fast. As of understanding the movie more deeply, you shall have two more sequels.

Aang portrayed by Noah Ringer, an actor who has done mostly top rated movies and is convincing here also.
Prince Zuko done to perfection by Dev Patel, a British resident of Indian origin, who has acted in one of the top 10 movies.
Katara by Nicola Peltz, an actress of substance and choice top movies.
Sokka enacted by Jackson Rathbone, who has done full justice to the character and made the film stand among the top movies of the season.
Iroh, Zuko’s uncle. Shaun Toub got under the skin of the character like he has done in all those top rated movies he has acted in.
Zhao, a hot-tempered soldier well developed on the screen by the cool Aasif Mandvi. One finds him cool in all his roles, some of which have been in the top 10 movies.
Princess Yue. Seychelle Gabriel actually looks like one on screen. She is the first choice of producers of top rated movies.
Fire Lord Ozai, portrayed by Cliff Curtis, who actually is the backbone of many top movies of Hollywood.
