The Toy Story 3 movie opened up on Friday June 18th 2010 in most theaters across the United States and abroad. I must say that this was by far the best of the three Toy Story movies. This movie has everything that a family needs to share 100 plus minutes together. My kids span the ages of 7 to 14 years of age, and without a doubt everyone of us walked away from the theater with smiles from ear to ear and recalling the funny moments of the movie as well as the sad.
Parents get ready to laugh, this movie fell short by approximately 3 million dollars of being one of the all time greats at the box office. I am sure that the following weeks will allow that stat to correct itself. The movie is that good. The Walt Disney Pixar touch has come together to create so many memorable movies in the last 10 plus years, you just know it has to be a top shelf movie.
Now doing a review without giving the key points of the movie away is difficult, but I can tell you that most of the cast returns to come together on this outstanding sequel times two. Tom Hanks is back as Woody, Tim Allen returns as the great intergalactic Buzz Lightyear toy, and Don Rickles the infamous and very funny Mr. Potato Head. The movie does an incredible job of tying together sentimental moments, with action and very, very funny scenes and lines. Some how, Mr. Potato head ends up putting his body parts on a fajita or soft taco shell, and when that does not work, he is off to the cucumber patch, very funny!
Toy Story 3 does not just appeal to kids, it truly is a movie that shares that family time that we all crave. In my opinion, no one delivers that better than Disney and Pixar. My family was split on the favorite scenes of the movie and there is no other way to put it, but to say that this movie will most definitely have something for everyone. We watched the movie in 3-D and I can tell you that it is worth the extra $3.00 dollars or so for the kids and nearly $7.00 for adults to watch the movie with today’s 3-D technology. No cheap 3-D pranks here. In closing, this is a movie that allows each family to share a movie together, create a beautiful memory, and if nothing else, It convinced my wife to never toss out another one of my kid’s toy no matter how old it may be! May the Buzz Lightyear Toy forever fly!
