Who hasn’t heard Peter Pan stories while growing up? He has definitely been one of our favorite heroes. And, who can forget his signature green outfit? Peter is a boy who refuses to grow up and was created by Scottish novelist J. M. Barrie. Also, Peter isn’t just like every other kid, he’s special and can fly. There have been many animation films, television series on Peter Pan. The latest Peter Pan movie starring Hugh Jackman, Amanda Seyfried and Levi Miller is one more film to that list.
While most adaptations focus on Peter’s heroics, this film tells us how he became a hero. It shows us Peter’s childhood and how he realises that he’s special. From what we’ve seen, in this film he discovers his ability to fly. We also get to see popular actor, Jackman as a character called Blackbeard, who kidnaps kids and makes them slaves in his magical world of Neverland. Peter is one of those kids but since he is no ordinary kid, he becomes a huge problem for Blackbeard. On the other hand, Seyfried, who was last seen in the film, While We’re Young is supposed to have a positive role.
Adding to the already stellar cast are Garrett Hedlund and Rooney Mara. They are supposed to be playing characters who Peter befriends during his adventures. The film is helmed by Joe Wright who is famous for directing the hit 2005 film, Pride and Prejudice which starred Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen.
From the trailer, Pan seems like a fun film with a lot of action sequences and Levi Miller looks adorable as the protagonist. They are definitely a lot of special effects used to create a fantasy world but whoa, it does look extremely pretty.
The casting of Jackman has raised a lot of eyebrows as we don’t associate him with such roles. They have given him a weird outfit and an even worse hairdo. Looks like the Australian actor will surely make us hate him in the film. The other controversy surrounding the film was about the casting of Rooney Mara as her character Tiger Lily was supposed to be a Native American in the movie. Now, Rooney is a Caucasian and the makers were accused of being racist. The actress recently apologised to those who were hurt by this. Now who doesn’t want to watch Jackman on the big screen? We can trust the actor’s capabilities and he does look menacing as Blackbeard. Plus, the film is on a character that is loved by one and all. Kids are definitely going to enjoy this film and it looks like the team have a winner in their hands.
