My Top Five Favorite Showtime Series

One network that has quickly been picking up steam in recent years is Showtime. While it has not yet reached the level of HBO’s success, Showtime is constantly putting out new shows that are big hits. At this point in time, it is not such a clear cut decision that HBO is the better premium network, and the race should only get closer in years to come.

So what are the best shows on Showtime? Here are some of my favorites.

The first show that I will mention is Dexter. This is easily one of my favorite TV series of all time, if not my favorite. This show follows around a serial killer named Dexter Morgan, who also happens to be a blood spatter analyst, which gives him quite the edge.

Another show that is definitely worth mentioning is Weeds. At the time of writing this article, I believe this show is in its sixth season. With the exception of the 4th season, every year of Weeds has been great.

Another series that deserves to be discussed is Californication. Has there ever been a more perfect role for David Duchovny than the role of the womanizer Hank Moody? Hank Moody is easily one of the coolest characters on all of television.

It goes without saying that any list of Showtime series has to include Inside The NFL. Forget about every other network when it comes to football coverage. No one does it as well as James Brown and company on a week to week basis. The fact that they cover the NFL highlights in HD doesn’t hurt either.

One other show that I feel is worthy of praise is The United States Of Tara. Toney Collete plays a one-woman show on this series, in which she stars as multiple characters and pulls it off so unbelievably well. No wonder she won an Emmy.

Hopefully there is at least one Showtime series on this list that you may have been interested in and will now consider watching.
