This Disney animated movies begins with a child named Lilo who feels very much alone on such a beautiful island. Her older sister Nani struggles to make ends meet. Nani has more responsibility than she is supposed to have at her age. However, she did not choose this responsibility. Lilo and Nani’s parents were driving one rainy night, and slid to their deaths.
Lilo begins taking Hawaiian dance classes. Her classmates make fun of her for coming to class all wet. The situation gets worse and Lilo bites another child. To make Lilo feel better, Nani takes Lilo to the shelter to pick out a dog. She decides that she wants the blue “dog,” names it Stitch, and takes it home. Stitch is no dog. He is an experiment gone wrong from a planet far away. He escaped certain death and landed on Earth. He wants to destroy everything he touches. He even makes a model of a city and then destroys it.
Stitch is just an added responsibility to Nani’s already stressed life. He is also Lilo’s only friend. The leader of the planet orders the scientist to retrieve Stitch from Earth. Stitch soon realizes that he is being followed and does a good job hiding behind Lilo. The aliens don’t want anyone to see them so this is a good strategy for a while.
A social worker is made aware of the kid’s situation and begins monitoring their life. Since Nani just lost her waitress job, she is told to find a new one quickly. Lilo doesn’t help the situation. She does many strange things when the social worker is around. Soon Stitch is captured and Lilo is taken along with him. Stitch escapes. It is up to him if Lilo is ever seen again.
