Prestigious awards were once again given yesterday Sunday, June 13 in the 64th Tony Awards held at the Radio City Music Hall. The night was the shining time for the English actor and model Eddie Redmayne as he was awarded with Best Performance by a Featured Actor in Play for his role in the broadway musical play entitled “Red”.
The 28 year old actor is known for his roles in different films and television shows all these years. He had made his professional stage debut at the a young age of 22 where he played a role for Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in “Twelfth Night”. In 2004, he was also able to won the Outstanding Newcomer at the 50th Evening Standard Theatre Awards and another award in 2005 entitled Best Newcomer at the Critic’s Circle Theatre Awards for his excellent performance for the “Goat” or “Who is Sylvia?”.
He had started doing movies and television series since the year 2006. On February 26, 2010 his Sundance hit movie, The Yellow handkerchief by Samuel Goldwyne Films was released in theatres. Redmayne appeared in the cast of the play Red by John Logan at the Donmar Warehouse bringing him the 2010 Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. While his recent Tony Award was for his come back role in Red which is having a 15-week long run from March 11 to June 27 at the John Golden Theatre.
“The arts matter… and I’ve never felt that more keenly in this extraordinary city,” said Redmayne. For sure, this actor still has several accomplishments to achieve in the years to come.
