The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers: Top Movie Review

Frodo Baggin played by Elijah Wood giving a top rated movies performance and Samwise Gamgee played by Sean Astin in a top movies role, have captured Gollum who had attacked them and they take him along to show them the Black Gate of the land of Mordor. The Fellowship reaches the land of Rohan whose King Theoden played by Bernard Hill giving his top 10 movies performance is captive of Grima Worntongue, henchman of Saruman. Kings only son Theodred has been killed and his nephew Eomer has been banished from the kingdom by Grima. Eomer ambushes the Uruk-hai in the Fangorn forest, kills them and frees Merry and Pippin who meet Treebeard the oldest Ent. Gollum has led Frodo and Sam to the Black Gates of Morodo which are heavily guarded and they find it difficult to enter, when Gollum suggests another way to go in.

The Fellowship meet Eomer who fears that the two hobbits were also dead but Aragorn follows their footsteps and in Fanghorn they meet the re-born Gandalf the White, a role perfect for top rated movies enacted by Ian Mckennel. They reach the palace of King Theoden and relieve him from the curse of Saruman and banish Wormtongue. Gandalf sets off in search of Eomer while Eowyn, Eomer’s sister forms a bond with Aragorn, a role fit for top 10 movies, played by Viggo Mortensen. Wormtongue explains the weak points of Helm’s Deep to Saruman, a role fit for top rated movies played by Christopher Lee, who prepares an army of Uruk-hai. While fighting the soldiers of Saruman, Aragorn falls in a deep river. Frodo and Sam are captured by Rangers of Ithilien and taken to Faramir, younger brother of Boromir who decides that the Ring should go to Gondor. Aragorn is saved by Theodred’s horse Brego and reaches Helm’s Deep.

Elrond, chief of Elves sends his army led by Eldir and the Ents are discussing with Hobbits about their role in the battle.

The battle of Helm’s Deep is an epic battle between the two sides with scales of fortune swinging from side to side. The Ents have finally decided to join forces with The Fellowship. Warriors from both sides have been fighting to gain foothold into each others territory for the whole night. As dawn approaches Gandalf emerges with forces of Eomer. They raze the Uruk-hai’s and cut through their defenses to finish them. The Ents open the dam of the river Isen and the deluge of water douses the battle fire of Uruk-hai’s washing them away leaving Saruman stranded on the tower. Frodo and Sam are set free by Faramir when he realizes that their mission is for truth prevailing over treachery and lies. The battle of Helm’s Deep is over but the battle for the Middle Earth has still to be fought. What will be the result with creatures like Gollum again getting controlled by their dark side and having sinister ideas about the Ring?

Director Peter Jackson is not letting go his grip on the narrative and his presentation is a shade better than in Part-1. Technically the film has gone a notch above The Fellowship. Musical score flows along the narrative like a boat in the river. The battle of Helm’s Deep is of gigantic proportions and truly an epic scene which will be a referral point in the history of world cinema. The hunger for more is eating into the body and mind of every viewer who has seen the first two parts. Peter has a very difficult job of excelling himself in the concluding part.
