The Original Predator Movie

Predator is a 1989 Science Fiction film with action elements, set to modern times. The Movie stars Arnold Schwarzneggar as the leader of a crack commando outfit. The film was made for $18 Million Dollars, and was an outstanding commercial success, earning $98 Million Dollars. In the twenty-three years since its release, it has had a total of four sequel films, two of which were crossovers with the highly successful Alien Franchise.

In the Film, Arnold and his team of crack commandos are patrolling through some Central American nation, attempting to accomplish a mission for the State Department. They at first, set out to rescue an esteemed diplomat from the hands of drug lords, but things go south when they discover that wasn’t the true intent of their mission.

Things go even further south, when it is discovered that the team is not alone out there in the Jungle. Stalking them…hunting them really…is an alien being bent on killing them, and taking their skin as trophies (hence the name). This advanced hunter makes short work of Arnold’s special forces team, before combating Arnold himself.

Arnold only prevails in the final battle, by discovering that the Alien being’s site depends upon heat sensitivity. Thus, he covers himself with mud to obscure the creature’s ability to see him. In this way he is able to defeat this extraterrestrial enemy.

The film is incredibly exciting and addicting, but offers very little social commentary or depth. However, it is incredibly enjoyable, and is an easy watch. If you haven’t seen it yet, you definitely need to!
