When discussing prolific, yet modest actors, one person who definitely comes to mind is Tommy Lee Jones. Throughout the years, the man has been in so many movies, yet he certainly does not seem like he has a Hollywood ego. Tommy Lee Jones definitely appears to love acting and I love the movies he is in.
This article will discuss what I consider to be the top five films starring or featuring Tommy Lee Jones.
The Fugitive is, simply put, one of my favorite movies of the nineties. It is hard to imagine anyone else in this movie besides Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. The “waterfall” scene remains one of my favorite scenes of any action movie. If you are a fan of action movies, then you must see The Fugitive.
No Country For Old Men is another film that I truly enjoyed. This film was loved by both critics and audiences, and it was no surprise when it won the Oscar for Best Picture of the Year. In addition to Tommy Lee Jones, this film also stars Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem.
One film that featured Jones that I loved was Batman Forever. When it comes to quality, this film does not come close to Christopher Nolan’s most recent Batman films, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. But that doesn’t mean that this film isn’t a fun watch. Tommy Lee Jones plays the role of Two Face.
When it comes to Men In Black, I liked the original more. Who would have thought that Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones would make such a good team together? Jones plays the serious role while Will Smith provides the comedic relief. I think this movie is great because it combines awesome special effects, as well as action, with comedy. This is not an easy combination to come by, and many other films have failed trying to do so. But when that combination works (a la Pirates Of The Caribbean), the result is usually a smash hit film.
Finally, I will include Olver Stone’s JFK on this list. This film focuses on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and how there was more to it than originally thought. Kevin Kostner stars in this movie as well.
As it stands, this is my personal list of the best Tommy Lee Jones movies. Let’s see what happens when Men In Black 3 is released next year.
